These Bay Area Itineraries Will Make You Fall in Love with Northern California

Today I want to share my Bay Area itineraries with you. From well-known cities to stunning coastline and world-famous wine country, this part of Northern California has all the elements that represent the best of the Golden State. I've published a lot of Bay Area itineraries on the California Wayfaring blog, and now I've pulled them all together in one blog post. I hope it helps you plan a great trip to this part of the state. There are maps, too.

Bay Area Travel

Centered around the San Francisco Bay, the Bay Area is comprised of 9 counties: San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, Marin, Sonoma, and Napa. It spans a geographical region that includes everything from San Jose to wine country, and there's a lot to do and see here.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and it's still one of my top picks for places to visit in California. My travel itineraries cover a range of things to do and see in the region. They include the best cities, famous beaches, great restaurants, outdoor activities, shopping, and more. Whatever you're into, there's one (or ten!) you'll love.

1. San Francisco Itineraries

I'll start my list of Bay Area itineraries with San Francisco. It's one of the most visited places here after all, and it deserves the top spot. From 1 day to 5 days, I've written travel guides to how to spend your time in the City by the Bay. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned visitor, they have you covered.

My San Francisco itineraries feature big attractions, fun things to do, delicious places to eat, and local areas most visitors miss. There's a great place to stay if you're able to spend a night or more here as well.

2. Marin County Itineraries

Next on my list are my Marin County itineraries. From Point Reyes and Tomales Bay to Bolinas and Marshall, they cover a range of places to go and things to do in the North Bay.

My Marin County travel guides feature everything from day trips to overnight getaways. They highlight coastal gems, fun hikes, amazing restaurants, local towns, stunning beaches, and more. There's a great local hotel I recommend as well.

From day trips to multi-day vacations, my itineraries cover the best of Napa Valley. They'll show you where to go wine tasting, where to eat, what to do, and where to stay. They're equally helpful for Bay Area locals and visitors from all across the world. Some of them combine a trip to Napa with a stint in neighboring Sonoma as well.

4. Sonoma County Itineraries

Next on my list are my Sonoma County itineraries. These travel guides are perfect if you like visiting cute towns and going wine tasting. They feature a balance of local spots, coastal highlights, natural beauty, and world-class vineyards.

My Sonoma itineraries range from day trips to multi-day vacations. Some include stays at charming hotels, others cover shopping, sightseeing, and wine tasting, and still more combine time in Sonoma County with a stint in Napa Valley. From Healdsburg to Jenner, Sebastopol, and Guerneville, they cover a lot of ground.

There are plenty of great places to visit in the East Bay. Whether you want to discover a big city like Oakland, a college town like Berkeley, or a unique place like Alameda, you're spoiled for choice. My itineraries will show you a variety of ways you can spend your time here.
